Don't Look Back and Don't Slip (Draconic!YGO AU) by CoffeeAddictedDragon Don't Look Back and Don't Slip (Draconic!YGO AU) by CoffeeAddictedDragon
Aaaaaaye!

I'm back from my trip and I made a thing. Lol.

Can't believe I was actually able to squeeze some digital art out, I've been having trouble doing so as of late. Haha. I used a new technique to emphasis movement blur. I may not keep it, I think I went a smidge overboard for this one though so we'll see...

For those of you who are fans of deer, you may wish to look away.

Haha, my first thought was "dragon!", but then my second thought was "Is that deer a big enough meal?"

Yup. Visited with some family. Glad to be back though, being surrounded by little kids who want all your attention is exhausting to me.

I duplicated the line art layer and the coloring layer, merged them together so that there were then three layers. One for just the line art, one for just the coloring below that, and the layer with the line art and the coloring merged together below that.

So it looks roughly like this.

1-Line Art

2-Color

3-Line Art & Color

On the third layer (line art and coloring) I took the opacity down until I was happy with it, I then moved that layer a little back to where the characters were maybe a mere moments ago in the shot. A bit like when you take a series of photos very fast, then used different smudge tools to show which direction they are moving from.

I then use the blur took to, well, blur it, then I moved to the two layers above it and do what I need to do for those separate layers before merging THEM together. I then put a little bit of blur on certain body parts, like legs, tails and other edtremedies that may be moving faster than the rest of the body. I usually put it only on the side that is facing from where they came from. Like in this pic, Yami is pouncing from behind the deer so any parts of his body that face behind him form where he came (like his wings, tail and the tops of his feet) get a slight blur. I may have gone a bit over board witht he blur for this picture so don't use it as a perfect reference. That help? XD
