ENCOUNTER: Downhearted (6)

The pod was beginning to settle down for the evening, mers assigned to be the guards took their posts and began patrolling, eyes bright and alert for leviathans or sharks. Tea was returning from her evening hunt, comfortably full and very tired, but she wasn't going to sleep quite yet. In her claws she held a fish tightly in her grip. There was someone she had to check on.

Ever since Yami's disappearance, Yugi had been searching for him. Day in and day out he'd swim up and down the area where he had last been seen, but to no avail. Yugi hadn't hunted for himself in ages, and could hardly sleep. Tea and the others had to remind him to eat and make sure that he did sleep, but regardless he kept looking.

Tea now swam up beside Yugi, who was now laying on the silt and sand like the rest of the pod, staring off into the distance. Noticeable bags had begun forming under his eyes, and his frills were low. "Hi Yugi." She chirped as she settled beside him, placing the fish close by. Yugi glanced at her and her body stiffened, he looked completely beaten...
"Oh Yugi..." Tea murmured and shifted closer. "Still no luck?" The Gold Midian shook his head, ear frills lowering even more. (if that was even possible.) "I've looked all over, Tea... I can't find any trace of him..." Yugi's eyes grew huge. "It's been two weeks... He... He can't be dead..." Tea shook her head vigorously. "Yami? Dead? No no no... You know him better then anyone else... Nothing can kill him." She said, trying to give a reassuring smile. It seemed to work a little, but his eyes still looked tired and worried. She sighed and curled her tail around him reassuringly. "I'll help you look for him again tomorrow okay? Joey and Tristan can help again too if you'd like."
Yugi glanced over at her and blinked. "Y-yeah... That'd be great... Thanks..."

"You're welcome. I know how close you guys are, and he's our friend too. Now get some sleep..."

Incase you're curious, Yugi is a Gold Midian like Mana, and Tea is a Common Zephree.

We needed to see how Yugi's taking his brother's absence. Needless to say it was worry then panic, then relentless searching and now a hint of doubt.
He'll pick up the search again, he won't give up.
