I learned about a new theripod dinosaur today. It is called the Saurophaganax.
Its smaller then a Tyrannosaurus Rex (Tyrant Lizard King) and is closer to the size of a Tarbosaurus (Alarming Lizard).

I thought its name was odd, not like the usual dino names that end in "saurus." (Meaning "lizard")

So I looked up the meaning of its name.

Holy crapes guys.

Saurophaganax = "Lord of the Eaters or Saurians."

Holy flipping hotpockets...

What in the ever loving world does one have to do to be named that? 0,0

Probably because "Indominus Rex" was taken. *bricked*

But I agree--how is something smaller than a T. Rex named that? :O

...Like trolling paleontology forums and sending substandard JP scripts to Hollywood....

Don't mind me, operating on limited sleep....

Well....that's a bit terrifying. How did it get named that? Makes me want to meet a T. Rex instead of Saurophaganax.

Either one, the grammar is a bit atrocious, akin to the language butchering of Google Translate, also, Spinosaurus Aegypticus is my favourite Dinosaur by miles!

Awesome, I love Spino for how perfectly evolved it was to its environment

Oh I totally agree with you. Spino was definitely unique in comparison to other large carnivorous dinosaurs at the time. Basically like if a croc decided to walk on two legs and get HUGE. I love how it was found in Egypt too. It's my favorite place to study about. XD

Same! I used to study Egyptology until I heard about the Spino fossil found there, then it was a massive shift to studying Paleontology.

Oh really? It was the other way around for me. XD Because of where it was found, I can help but draw spinos with Egyption features.XD Like kohl like eyeliner markings around the eyes and stuff.
